God's kingdom is built on multiplication, not division.  God uses the tithe as an investment where everyone involved gets a return on the investment.  Obviously, the church and the kingdom are blessed, and yet God's nature is to also bless the giver.

Tithing is an act of obedience.  God has declared that the first fruits (the first 10% of our earnings) belong to Him.  This first 10% is not ours to give to God, but to return to Him seeing as it is already His.  When we obey God's instruction to tithe, God promises to bless our lives and finances.

Tithing is our opportunity to show God that He is first in our lives.  Jesus said in Matthew 6:21 that "where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."  James 1:17 says that "every good and perfect gift is from above," so we have an opportunity to tangibly show God He is the "owner" of our finances by giving back to Him the first of what He gives us.

"'Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house, and try Me in this,' says the Lord of hosts, 'If I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it.'"   MALACHI 3:10
